Theravadan Meditation Group

Theravadan Meditation Group

Maidenhead, Berkshire ~ Leisure
Theravadan Buddhist Meditation instruction and shared practice.

About us:

Amidst the business of modern family life, we try to practise meditation!

We like to share this practise on a Thursday evening at 7.30-9pm, and on a Monday morning at 9.30-11am.

Our large garage has been partially converted into a meditation space. We are regular visitors to a Theravadan buddhist monastery near Berkhampstead and we have occasional visits from a monk or nun to our group.

Our practise includes brief chanting (no obligation to join in) followed by sitting meditation mostly in silence but with some guidance if appropriate. Then there is a chance to talk and ask questions. The meditation techniques (eg. observing the body and breath) are otherwise known as Insight or Mindfulness meditation.

Beginners are very welcome and can be accommodated into a normal meeting. It is best to wear loose and warm clothing. There is no fee. Please phone before your first visit as we occasionally have to cancel meetings.

The ultimate site for aviation memorabilia

About us:

It has long been my ambition to open a web site dedicated to aviation memorabilia. I have now been lucky enough not only to do this, but also have published two books and avaiation calendars for 2009, all shown on the web site. My first book and calendars are dedicated to ‘Court Line Aviation’ who ceased operating in 1974. Followed by ‘Luton Airport’ which shows airlines and aircraft of ‘yesteryear’. In addition to these I am building up my ‘Rummage Hold’ which has some unique and sought after aviation memorabilia for sale.

Rotary Club of Crowthorne & Sandhurst

Crowthorne ~ Leisure
The main objective of Rotary is service — in the community and throughout the world.

About us:

Meets Wednesday evenings 7:30 for 8:00pm

Rotarians — men and women alike — volunteer their efforts to improve the quality of life in their own communities and beyond their communities’ borders. The world’s Rotary clubs meet weekly and are non-political, non-religious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds. Club membership represents a cross-section of local business and professional leaders.

Rotarians initiate community projects that address many of today’s most critical issues, such as violence, drug abuse, youth, AIDS, hunger, the environment, and illiteracy. Rotary clubs are autonomous and determine service projects based on local needs.
