Ben Portsmouth and his fantastic band ‘Taking Care of Elvis’ are a UK sensation! presenting an amazing tribute to the King of Rock and Roll.

Ben has the looks, the style and that unmistakable voice which is guaranteed to get hearts racing and feet tapping. In the blink of an eye you’ll be transported back in time and be able to see, hear and experience the young Elvis Presley when he first burst on to the U.S. music scene. Ben’s stunning outfits, all custom made, span the black leathers of Presley’s comeback in 1968 to the white jumpsuits of the later Las Vegas shows. They are all exact copies of the originals.

Not only is he a natural showman but also an extremely talented professional singer and songwriter, a dedicated musician who sincerely goes that extra mile in all his performances and in doing so, he leaves his audiences shouting for more.

Ben can also perform as –

A duo singing and playing the guitar alongside fellow band member Dan Caney who plays bass guitar and sings backing vocals.

As a solo Elvis tribute artiste he uses studio quality backing tracks to accompany his ‘live’ vocals.

Chamber Choir

About us:

Do you enjoy singing? The Cameo Singers, Wokinmgham’s chamber choir, will be starting a new season from September 13th and would welcome new members in all voice parts.

Cameo Singers is a small friendly choir with a broad repertoire which includes madrigals, sacred music, folk songs, part-songs and lighter items such as operetta and contemporary arrangements. The choir gives 2 or 3 concerts a year and has also performed at private functions such as garden parties and weddings. The choir has an active social side which includes pub evenings, dinners and an annual party.

Membership is normally open to any experienced singer with reasonable sight-reading ability. Anyone interested in joining at any time during the season is invited to try us out for a week or two or contact the Membership Secretary on 0118 978 3126. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings during school term time from 8pm to 10pm at St Mary and St John Parish Centre, Billing Avenue, California. A commitment to attendance is expected.

Serinette Ladies Choir

About us:

Serinette is a choir for ladies over the age of 18.

The members come from Charvil and the surrounding area.

Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings during school term times between 8.00
and 9.30 pm at Charvil Village Hall, Park Lane, Charvil.

We participate in concerts, festivals and competitions both locally and further afield.

Our repertoire is varied and includes classical pieces, folk songs, spirituals, songs from shows and popular songs.

We do most of our performances from memory, which does entail extra work learning words.

Commitment and enthusiasm are important. The ability to read music is preferred.

The choir also organises social and fund-raising events.

Girls Choir

About us:

Vivace girls’ choir started in 1990 and has gone from strength to strength. the 45 strong choir have sung at many venues including winchester cathedral, chester cathedral and disneyland, paris! at present, the choir is open to any girls between the ages of 11 and 18. we rehearse on sunday evenings at charvil village hall. plans for 2007 include the national festival of music for youth, cheltenham festival and a concert as guests of the central band of the white russian army at the hexagon in reading.

Twyford Singers is a friendly village choir with a young, enthusiastic musical director.

About us:

The repertoire is varied, from Purcell to Tippet, madrigals to musicals. We have two concerts a year, one at Christmas and the other in the summer.

Sections of the choir take part with other groups to sing at other times, particularly at Easter, and during the year some of the singers join together to entertain the residents and visitors at various local nursing and residential homes.

We all enjoy singing, have fun, work hard and aim to sing well. We also enjoy a varied programme of social activities.

Anyone who would like to join us and make new friends would be most welcome. You do not need to be able to read music and we do not hold auditions, but you should be able to sing in tune.

Rehearsals are once a week at The United Reformed Church Hall, Church Street, Twyford on Tuesday evenings from 7:45 – 10:00p.m.

We have a break for tea and biscuits and a weekly raffle. Membership fees are £40.00 a year and include hire of scores.
