re:charge

Re:charge

Maidenhead ~ Young-People
Re:charge is a community café offering a safe environment for young people.

About us:

Re:charge, above Virtual Games in King Street, is a community café offering a safe environment for young parents with children on Tues – Thurs 10am-3pm and young people (aged 11-18) on Tues 4pm – 8pm, Fri 4pm – 10pm and Sat 6 – 10pm.

We aim to have a positive impact on both groups by providing a venue and creating an atmosphere in which positive relationships can develop and opportunities can be offered.

Our work would not be possible without the commitment of many local people and the support of a wide variety of organisations.

Why is re:charge meeded?

Young women who experience an unplanned or unwanted pregnancy often do not feel comfortable in traditional mother and toddler groups. Yet they may need more support than other young families. At re:charge we build long term relationships, enabling young parents to make positive choices about their futures. We provide positive role models with access to a range of services and activities.

For young people, re:charge provides relief from the bombardment of messages of materialism and fears for the future. Peer pressure can lead even level-headed young people into making negative choices. In Maidenhead, the police receive, on average, 1000 calls a month about anti-social behaviour, often involving young people. Re:charge gives them an alternative and maybe even a second chance. They are bored not bad.

How you can help

As a charitable project, re:charge relies wholly on funds donated by concerned individuals, groups & organisations. Either with a one-off donation or a regular gift, YOU can make a difference to our local young people & to our community of Maidenhead.

We also need volunteers to help us in a variety of ways – being in the café meeting young mums and dads, being a role model for a young person, helping run various activities, or in the office with administrative tasks or helping us with fundraising.
