About us:
The Shuri Karate Dojo, a local karate club in Crazies Hill, Wargrave, Reading, Berkshire, offering martial arts classes and lessons in traditional karate, utilising old values, traditions, etiquette and discipline. The Dojo was established in Lower Earley in 1996.
At the Shuri Karate Dojo the style of karate we practice is called Shito-Ryu, a traditional style of karate originating from the island of Okinawa, founded by the late Okinawan karate master Kenwa Mabuni (1889-1952) and continued with his son the late Kenzo Mabuni, run in a friendly family club atmosphere to enhance and encourage the learning process.
Our Dojo does not compete in sport karate. Our function is to promote and preserve the true essence of the art of karate and preserve its Okinawan/Japanese heritage.
Karate is for everyone irrespective of age, size, male or female. We accept students from 7 years of age upward (sometimes younger).
