The Old Shire Horse Centre

Maidenhead, Berkshire ~ Leisure
Craft Village, Animal Farm, Toy Museum & Coffee Shop. Great day out

About us:

The Old Shire Horse Centre Craft Village & Animal Farm. Set in the intimate surroundings of the former Courage Brewery shire horse stables, the centre offers a day out with a difference.

The Craft Village offers a fascinating range of craft studios & shops. Visitors can watch our crafts men & women at work; try their hand at jewellery creation, card making or pottery painting in one of our workshops; or shop for a special memento from the distinctive array of unique handmade products.

Our Animal Farm gives visitors the opportunity to interact with & learn more about our furry & feathered friends. They can take time to get to know our rare Alpacas, the goats William & Archie as well as the pigs, ponies & sheep. Chat with Cocky the Cockatoo, find out what we feed the peacocks & cuddle our pets, in the enclosed petting area

Entrance to the Animal Farm includes access to Granny’s Toy Collection (a toy museum, with toys from around the world) and our play area featuring a bouncy castle & family picnic area.

Set in the heart of the Craft Village, our café offers a delicious range of homemade food. Linger over a light lunch of fresh soups, salads or sandwiches or savour one of our tempting cakes for morning coffee or afternoon tea.

The Old Shire Horse Centre can cater for groups and special events. Open Monday – Saturday 9.30 – 5, Sunday 10 – 4. Closed on Wednesday.

    THIS PLACE IS CLOSED DOWN

  2. Mrs Lawson-Smith says:

There is a telephone number, if I wanted to get any further details I would phone them, there maybe special days out planned etc not listed here at the time I wanted to take the children

  3. hlm says:

I’ve been to the cafe for lunch a few times – I can’t speak for the ‘farm’ part.
Certainly the rest of it is free to enter – it’s more of a little shopping centre, than a tourist attraction. Cafe is nice though…

  4. Helen Thomas says:

I fully agree with S Stephenson…Why are there no prices?
Surely if it free to visit that would be a massive selling point and therefore be well promoted.
Likewise, if it is very expensive, we should be told beforehand because not everyone has creditcards and limitless funds!

  5. S Stephenson says:

As commented above, I need to know the price before we decide whether or not to travel over and visit.

  6. Mrs P Dearing says:

Why do you not give an entrance price?
